According to the early collections, Bajirao Mastani has earned only a fourth part of what Dilwale has collected after its release in Pakistan. The Pakistani fans had lined up to watch their favorite iconic couple in Dilwale but now it is not the competition of one sided as it is expected that the fans are lining up for ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
Nadeem Mandviwalla, the Pakistani distributor and the exhibitor said, “While the advance bookings of 'Dilwale' outshone 'Bajirao Mastani', the latter's ticket sales are picking up because of positive feedback, reviews on social media and positive word of mouth talk,” he added, “The real test for 'Bajirao Mastani' would come later this week when they are two successive holidays before the weekend.”
According to the Eveready pictures, the action-comedy film Dilwale has earned 65 million during its opening weekend in Pakistan. The first three days it has earned 21.3 million, 24 million and 23 million. But Bajirao Mastani has not left behind as it has been released in more than 70 screens in Pakistan.
“Positive word-of-mouth helped generate audience interest in the movie. And with holidays coming up in the next few days, you can expect the film to put on an even more improved display at the box office,” the executive director of the Distribution Club, Abid Rasheed has said.
Shah Rukh Khan has shared his feelings of happiness and said, “Popular films usually have this logic. They are a popular, blockbuster, in your face, masala film. There are a lot elements, which are beyond critical and artistic acclaim,” he added, “But according to me, such films should be liked by the audience. I'm happy that the critics have liked it and disliked it, though I don't read it. But beyond that, the film we want to make is for a target... the audience, and as long they like it, I'm very happy. But all the views and all the reviews, god bless them all, I don't read them.”
Despite having negative reviews and critical remarks from the critics, Shah Rukh Khan is happy with the film and Dilwale Songs. “There is a feeling of delight, we want it to do better, that families come to the theatres without any hesitation. In some places, there were situations where all families couldn't venture out. But we have made the film for families and I am hoping that the situation improves and all come to watch the film.”
